    question before i attempt to root

    this maybe stupid but do i need to have my D2G active on VZW to root? I just got my D3 and plan to activate it but i wanted to root my D2G for practice before attempting it on my D3 when it becomes available.

    as long as its active on wireless will i be able to down load the necessary stuff to root it?
