Music transfer mac>droid2g
Well I loaded 21 songs from my eMac-(tiger) but I'm wondering if I may have accidentaly created duplicates, on both the SD card and internal memory. After I loaded them i noticed a drop in both the SD card and internal memory. Here's what I did:
-Connected included usb cable from phone to Mac
-accessed notifications and selected mount
-created folder named music on the droid
-dragged and dropped files into music folder
Ok, so I loaded 21 songs, but if I go into files my music folder has 44 items.
Also while my droid was connected to my Mac it acted like there was no SD card installed.
OT-can I rename songs, albums, artists once inside my droid?
So, if any of you have any thoughts I would appreciate your time.

I personally use DoubleTwist with its AirSync. Setup similar to iTunes (and actually piggybacks on your iTunes library) and allows you to transfer songs over the Wi-Fi. My Androids were all fidgety sometimes when I plugged them into my Mac, this solves that issue.
If you want to move over APKs, use Dropbox. SIMPLE. Put the APK in your Dropbox on your Mac/PC and then login on your phone and tap to download and install.
I love my Mac and develop on it for the Android platform, but for simple music and file transfer, that is what I do.

Yes, I second DoubleTwist as well. However if you have music that is located in more then one folder that iTunes goes in to retrieve it you may have to manually move those tracks (drag and drop) into your phone. But DT should do a good job for you, free just Google it.
I knew there was an improvement that was made to DT recently, it seems like with Air Sync you may not have the issue I mentioned in my first paragraph. Good luck, it's a handy tool.

When you mount your SD card to your computer, you UN-mount it from your phone; Thus, your phone can no longer read it.

Thanks, that explains that. Total droid newbie here.
Still, why the extra items in my music folder? Are the extras just the track info?
Thanks for the help and suggestions!

Could be anything, what are the file types? I know Macs like throwing in hidden data sometimes.
Recommendation: delete the folders and start fresh with the DoubleTwist. You can transfer music via USB cable or Wi-Fi through DoubleTwist. The Wi-Fi app is well worth the couple bucks.

File types are the normal mp3's.
Thanks everyone, I appreciate the input. I'll check DT too, I want to change up music player as well, so those will probably be next on my to-do list.

Mac OS X automatically places hidden files when you copy files via Finder. The naming is the original filename with a . in front.
You will have to manually remove them...
To see the Hidden files with Finder, open a Terminal and do the following...
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
To not show them in Finder (like default), do the following in a Terminal....
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE
For the change to take effect you either need to reboot them Mac or "kill" the Finder process so it restarts with the change...
killall Finder
