    Still confused about ROMS?

    Can only certain roms be installed over 2.2? , do roms take specific Kernels? I was able to load Cyanogen mod 7 but it wasn't all that great.

    Yes roms can only be installed over certain kernels. Liberty Froyo can only be installed on 2.2 Liberty Gingerbread on 2.3 and so forth.
