12-19-2010 10:15 AMA rom is essentially a custom framework for the phone. It can be made to optimize the performance of the phone by removing blur and bloat and allowing easy overclocking. And yes it requires root.

02-08-2011 09:29 PMIts easy enough to sbf back to stock before sending your phone in if your phone is dead enough to send in and then they wouldnt know you were rooted/running a custom romViolates your warranty
