    cant flash a CWM recovery

So I have been on CM 7.0.3 stable since release and was going to flash winner's latest release. Couldnt get into recovery. Said I had recovery but couldnt get in. Tried flashing the other recovery, SP or w/e it is and that was flashed but cant get CWM flashed. Every time I try to select it, it doesnt do anything.

I have tried older versions of CWM and none work. Tried fix permissions and that didnt fix anything. Any ideas anyone?

No idea what is going on but I flashed via adb commands the latest 3.1 recovery and it seems to be working now. Creating a NAND and going to try to flash a new build now.

How did he fix it? I flashed this and then got ROM Manager back on and then went back to 2.5.1 or w/e it was.

Please describe what is fixed -- do we need to uninstall & reinstall ROM manager? Like the other posters, I've tried flashing SP & reflash CWM via ROM Manager, but can not reboot into recovery.

I also just tried flashing via adb - not working either:

    # /data/flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
    /data/flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
mtd: read error at 0x00000000 (Out of memory)
mtd: read error at 0x00100000 (Out of memory)
... this repeats for many addresses...
mtd: write error at 0x00460000 (Out of memory)
mtd: re-read error at 0x00460000 (Out of memory)
mtd: skipping write block at 0x00460000
...this also repeats for many addresses.
error writing recovery: No space left on device

I have ~94 MB internal storage available

Any ideas on what I should try next?

After you get the above error, reboot your phone and do it again. This is what worked for me.

Above I posted a link for the commands and recovery for 3.X. I flashed that, then installed ROM Manager and was able to flash back to 2.5.1 I believe is what it is.

I would still like to know what the guy above was told to fix though as well.

Oh sorry, it go fixed on my phone, but maybe I misunderstood your original problem, for me all the recoveries had dissappeared from rom manger, even all the older CWM recoveries, but they are back now, what does it say if you select to install a rom from rom manager? does it let you instal any? will it let you to flash any of the other recoveries? Can you get into recovery by: shutting down your phone completely, then slide open the keyboard, then turning on your phone hold down th "x" key as your phone starts to boot does it go into recovery that way or not even that way?

I was not able to do any recovery but the SP one or w/e it is called. Every time I tried to flash CWM recovery it wouldnt do anything. I uninstalled, rebooted, cleaned files, installed older versions. Nothing. Only way I was able to fix it was using the link I posted above. Then once the 3.X recovery was installed, I installed Rom Manager and installed 2.5.1 and now everything is working fine. I would have stayed with 3.X but read that it cant do everything yet so I just wanted to be safe.

No, that's the problem -- I hold the X & it just stays at the Motorola M for much longer than normal, then reboots again & loads the ROM --
