Stuck in CM7 load loop

Sorry to start yet another thread on this topic, but none of the others seemed to quite have the information I needed and I feel that there are ANSWERS out there! Warning: I am an extreme noob and seem to have gotten myself in way over my head. Regardless, I would very greatly appreciate your help.

I have installed CM7 on my Incredible having not had done anything in root before. Everything seemed to have gone swimmingly but I now am faced with a phone apparently stuck in the cyanogen boot loop (with the blue feller skateboarding in the dauntingly-every-spinning arrow). I have tried restarting (pulled the battery) as well as a hard restart. Can anybody offer advice?

Fairly sure I got the right one. Hard to say, what with the phone being useless to me as a phone at the moment Suggestions?

Reboot into recovery and restore a backup. Then you can sort out if you had a corrupted download or the wrong version for your phone. Did you flash an alternate kernel with the ROM?

Edit: when you pull the battery and place it back in, make sure you are holding down/pressing whatever you need to in order to get an Incredible into recovery mode. Catch the boot so you don't get stuck on the boot animation. Also, how did you install this? Did you wipe cache/system?

Trying to reboot into recovery but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Is this anything that the "factory reset" function might help? Don't suppose there's any good way to go back to square one...

Did you see my edits above? Also being that this is a D1 forum, I do not know anything about the recovery options or support for the Incredible. Are they the same as the D1?

I think I am making some progress in the recovery game. I just saw your edit. I installed it via RomManager app. Now the recovery seems to be timing out. Grr...

What do you mean by "catch the boot"?

Also, really do appreciate your time, even if I am in the wrong forum (my bad).


Edit: The recovery options seem to be really similar, and it now looks like the recovery is moving again.

Are you still stuck in the boot animation? Not sure what you mean about timing out? Catching the boot is when you hold down the buttons necessary to force the phone into recovery mode in between boot cycles or immediately after putting the battery back. This is so the phone will go into recovery instead of continuing in the cycle.

If you are in recovery, flash a nandroid backup to get the phone running again.

Gotcha. Recovery worked and I am now with functional phone. I'll have to look into what went wrong at a later date when my adrenaline levels are a little lower. Thanks again! #scaredstraight

Glad you got it running again In the future, you may want to install this manually from recovery mode and not with ROM Manager. Don't forget to backup and then wipe everything before installing.
