Unfortunately everything comes to an end...at least we had a good run with it.
I'll be viewing what happens with the Nexus before I decide on anything else...in fact, I still may be stuck with this phone for a while yet...
Nah. Now that we're cut off from the mainstream, official CM, now would be the perfect time to fork CM7. CM9 seems unrealistic, but CM7 could certainly use some final fine tuning for the Droid. Cut out some features that don't agree with the device (DSP manager and the current camera app were mentioned for good reason) tweak for performance, and polish up the bugs and unfinished features left over from the nightlies. THEN I will be okay with no more updates.

Just to put this out there, the camera app in the last nightly is actually working quite well on my device. I've found it is very dependent on the kernel that I run. Some kernels make the camera choke, while deprimed test #19 allows the camera to work just fine. Just my experience here.

I have to free up RAM in order to keep the phone from lagging. Got to have about 50MB free for normal use.

I should go through all my apps and junk what I'm not using.

Best app to free up ram on the spot. I've been hooked on it for months now. I couldn't live without it

I still don't have notification sounds. For either MMS or Gmail. It used to work before when I had audible screen selections enabled. I did the sbf method.and restarted from scratch about 2 weeks ago. But it still worked cuz I heard that "Droid" stock notification sound after I did it. I guess I'll reenable audible screen selection sounds n c if that fixes it. Though it gets annoying after awhile listening to that screen sound.

-For MMS, have you tried setting the sounds from the app as well as in the Settings, Sounds menu?

-For Gmail, open the Gmail app and hit the menu button. Then hit More, Settings, then select your account. Scroll to the bottom and select Labels to Notify. Then select the Inbox for more notification options.

-Also, make sure that Label is synced. You can do that by going in to Setting, Accounts & Sync. Select your Gmail account and make sure the box is checked next to Sync Gmail. For some reason, whenever I flash a rom, the Sync Gmail box gets unchecked.

I can't get notification sounds on Winner's most recent build of the nightlies, but flashing back to his version of 7.1 stable fixes them.

    Cm7.2

    [ROM][CM7.2-RC0] fan7 - xda-developers

For those who haven't seen this post yet, rootfan over at XDA has posted a recent build of cm7 for our good ol' OG Droids. I installed it over CM7 nightly #253 and it works great, but obviously do a nandroid backup first and make sure to read the whole OP so you know what you are installing.
