That method should do it -- it's just a straight recovery.img file.

I've flashed the new recovery image via Droid explorer and all seems ok but on rom manager it still shows the old recovery image. Any solutions or just go with knowing what I have?

I have rebooted into recovery and it is cwm3.

Since ROM Mangler doesn't have ClockworkMod Recovery 3 integration yet, why worry?

I successfully got the new CW3 to flash using the adb shell. I tried it. Looks good. I'm in favor of the change to orange. The recovery is pretty laggy though. Not sure if I want to keep it.

Seriously, what has changed that is so compelling that we all have to flock over to the new version? All I see are heachaches. It lags.. not a huge deal, but then again, the older version didn't lag, and it apparently has problems flashing some zips. What's the point? Anyone want to chime in?

I believe it has to do with the new way the roms are written. Different code format

Edit: Looks like some kind of different recovery image. Apparently an alternative to CW? It has the ability to flash the new zips (I think...), it's blue instead of green or orange. I liked the orange!!! And it can charge your battery, useful when it's low and you need to flash a new rom. It also can wipe /recovery and /misc. What's MISC?

I thought the title of the second link was self-explanatory. At the very least, reading the OP should have helped. It's a new recovery. The link I gave you was an update.zip that should install it on your phone automagically.
