There is a setting that allows you to swipe left to right, on the notification bar, to dim the backlight or make it really bright without having to do it the long way. Pretty interesting.
Funny how some people complain more than my 2 year old daughter does.

Tried that, found it less than reliable...is it working well for you?

Here's a tip I'd like. Does anyone know how to enable speed dial on the CM7 dialer? I've done it before using a dialer app from the market, but the theme I just applied makes the CM7 dialer look really cool, and I want to use it, but only if I can enable speed dial. Any tips?

AFAIK, there is no speed dial in the stock CM dialer, unfortunately. I use Dialer One as I can't live w/out speed dial and T9 name dialing....

It did for me. It takes a couple times to get the swiping right to left. It needs to be a bit more sensitive to the touch. It gets the job done quick if you don't feel like going to settings to adjust it, or use and app or other ways to adjust brightness.

And no one thinks this is a glaring omission? Feature phones, including ones without cameras, have had the feature for years. All the time and effort that goes into the development of these AOSP ROMs and it never occurred to the developers to include something as basic as speed dial? I don't want this comment to be construed in a criticizing way, but still!

I know I agree that it's unfortunate speed dial/T9 name dialing is missing.

I guess it's just a matter of there being a lot of market options to get those features, and a dev hasn't stepped forward to implement it in CM. CM is a lot about individual initiative of interested developers...

Thanks for an excellent post. I learned not to use the bootstrapper on CM7 the hard way, the very hard way
