Official GMail update in market won't install

    Official GMail update in market won't install

    I get an error box with the message "Package file was not signed correctly.". On sapphire 1.1.1.

    You have to delete the gmail.apk from the /system/app. Root explorer is an easy way. Terminal is another, but I'm not good with commands.

    Ok, I did these commands in terminal and it worked AFTER a reboot.
    su
    cd /system/app
    sysrw
    rm Gmail.apk
    sysro
    <rebooted> Wouldn't work before the reboot.
    Then installed from market.

    Worked fine after reboot.... figured that was what was needed, but nice to see a thread had been started.

    Yup, and that's why you have to remove the one in system/app. It installs in /data/app as com.google.android.gm-1.apk because god forbid it be easy to find.
