Just checked in 7zip. Verified okay. I suspect since the error comes up during the kernal install that my phone somehow doesn't like it. Maybe a version of the ROM can be made without any OC kernal preinstalled?

So one file corrupts the other? Probably keep Storm8 apps since you can do the V Cast on the web. Is there a way to get the set cpu to see the passive mode? It can read the CPU freq and temp like I have seen in other ROM's. Still yours is by far the fastest.
Tricky,
Try going into the build.prop file in the /system dir and editing the following line:
ro.product.brand=Verizon
Change it to
ro.product.brand=verizon (with a lowercase v)
Save, reboot and try v cast tones again.
Let me know the results.
that will not fix it .. one other change needs to happen for it to work:
ro.product.device=Droid (with an uppercase D)
With it as uppercase - Verizon works. When uppercase, Storm8 fails

So far, this is the best SS version yet. I've only been running for around 10 minutes, but as of now you have fixed the slow down I was getting on 4.3/4.4 from icon refresh.
As a note, bkapps/rstapps seem to have worked great, minus the couple of force closes during rstapps, but I didn't force close them until it finished.
If all continues to be well then I'll make sure to throw quite a few beers your way.

Downloading right now
I would also like to know what all themes work for this rom...

@Tricky111,
I use Root Explorer.
If you have it, navigate to /system then click the Mount R/W button at the top.
Next, long press the build.prop file and select Open in Text Editor (you may have to scroll down on the list)
When the file opens, make the change I suggested then press the Menu button and select Save & Exit. It will automatically back up the original as build.prop.bak and save the new version.
Reboot and try Vcast Tones again.

When I'm doing the rstapps -c, I get the occasional FC, and it keeps going just fine - just like normal. I get superuser FC once or twice as well, but no problems. I get to where probably 2/3 of it is done, and I get the superuser FC again, and it shuts down terminal emulator, and nothing can use superuser again, it consistently FCs unless I reboot. I'm about to do a factory/data reset to get rid of what it did install and try again (3rd time), and see if I can keep an eye on which one it's copying when it does the final FC.
Ok, it's the rom manager license .apk that's causing the permanent FC of superuser... I went in and removed it (and the rom manager apk just to be anal), but it tried to restore it again. Does rstapps default to the latest backup? or the original? b/c I only deleted the .apk out of the folder with the latest date - i.e. today.

The only dumb question is the one not asked.

Conversely, if you are using the backup in LP, at least mention this so that Chevy can perhaps diagnose where the issue may be coming from.
I will likely give this rom a spin when I get some time for install, and I do need LP. I would bet dollars to donuts that it will work, we just need to figure out what may be breaking it.

Edit: Forgot to mention that if you are having rom manger problems, it is likley not this rom. I have had nothing but headaches with the last couple of rom installs with rom manager. If you have the option to download the file to your pc, I would recommend doing so, and either reboot to recovery to install, or even switch to Sprecovery. I like Rom manger, but I even had problems with cvpcs's rom, and he and Koush either work together, or at least have close coding connections. FWIW.
I installed from titanium. I have also fount that a large part of the time I have only the first half of my app drawer, the rest is blank

Fascinated!!!
Samsung Fascinate
Rooted, running Superclean 2.6 and lovin it!
Great Phone!!!

It does pull from /sdcard/SimplyStunning/apps - so if you removed it from there, there is no way it can restore it - however, it will also try to restore DATA as well ...
A quick way to exclude it is:
rstapps -c -x romman

ok, will give it a go...so if i want to use my latest backup, as of this morning, i need to rename that folder to just "apps" instead of "apps-07-19-2010" (or whatever it was named), correct?

I made that change too, but because of cosmetic reasons.. I hated the lowercase droid in the About Phone in settings.
I don't have any Storm8 games and only use NFL app which is affected by the ro.product.brand.
Thanks for the info.
