I at this point have no font-switching capabilities in SS - however, I just checked out 'Type Fresh' from the market and it makes it pretty easy to change fonts - check it out!

The Type Fresh app wasn't really an improvement over this method which was too tedious:
Grab desired .ttf
Copy it
Rename 'DroidSans' and 'DroidSans-Bold'
Place them in /system/fonts on your phone, overwrite the current DroidSans.ttf and DroidSans-Bold.ttf
Reboot
I'm pretty sure all you need to do is replace the fonts in the /system/fonts folder to whatever you like. I've tried a couple from my computer with success (Arial, Tahoma, etc.)
I used Root Explorer from the Market to copy the fonts from my sd card
- I think any .ttf will do
- fonts must be renamed to match what is in the /system/fonts folder (DroidSans.ttf = system font, DroidSans-Bold.ttf = system bold font, etc.)
- permissions on the .ttf files must match what is already there (rw-r--r--)
Like I said, I've done this on my phone without any issues. Just rename the current fonts on your phone with a .bak extension to keep them in case you don't like the results.
Just make sure you make a nandroid backup first and have some fun!
It says that TYPE FRESH is only for ROOTED PHONES.
I don't know what that means but it won't work on the Droid X.
How can I increase the fonts then?
