I'm currently un-rooted and stock. But that's about to change. Now for overclocking, alot of people are saying that the OC kernels that come with most roms aren't as good as the ones released by ChevyNo1, so they flash those. Now I have no idea what's the difference between all the ESEs and EDEs, like the ESE25 or EDE53 or EDE56 or 57 or whatever they are. Can someone shed some light on these for me?? I have no idea which one to download...besides the 5-slot one, since most people say that they're more stable then the 10-slot kernels. Are they specific to 2.0.1 and others specific to 2.1 roms??? Let me know. Thanks.
All of the kernels listed in this thread are for ERE/ESE ROMs only, which are all the newly leaked 2.1 ROMs. So my kernels will work on the ROMs in this 'family'. Not on any of the 2.0.1, not even the pre-ERE/ESE ROMs. The 5-slot vs 10-slot - jury seems to be out - if you want to play it safe, run the 5-slot. Hope that helps!

So the EREs and EDEs are for 2.1 roms? But I've seen some people saying that they're running smoked glass 5.0, with one of your OC kernels. Isn't smoked glass a 2.0.1 rom? I still don't know which one to get....besides a 5-slot one
I have been running the 5-slot 1GHZ kernel at 800MHZ. Last night I decided to run it at the stock 550MHZ. I really don't think I see much difference in speed but what I do see is a very steep drop in CPU temps. Here are some comparisons.
@ 800MHZ
Idle, Low to mid 20's
Browsing Internet, High 30's to Low 40's
@ 550MHZ
Idle, Mid to High Teens
Browsing Internet, Low to Mid 30's
I have yet to exceed 40C running at stock speed. I'll keep testing but pretty sure I'll keep it at 550MHZ if it doesn't lag.
