the blue is alright but some text and icons are hard to read

I tried 5.6 and it crashes and freezes.
5.5 works flawlessly just that the blue theme makes it difficult to view.

Well I was not able to find a copy of unthemed 5.5 on my external hard drive, but you could always install a custom theme that was close to stock, there are a few out there if I remember. I think currently that is the closest you are going to get.

If I remember correctly SS 5.5 had the cm7 theme changer. Just search for cm7 themes and I am sure you can dig up something to your liking.
