It's probably not in your ringtones folder. I opened up root explorer, went to my sd card folder, then brought up menu and selected search. I typed in *.mp3 and after scanning, it brought up all my mp3's that are on my sd card.

Wat? I told you, I plugged in my phone and found the text tones under Notifications and my ringtones are stored in a folder called Ringtones. I moved the ringtone to the Notifications and it showed up under where I set my ringtones. Temporary fix but not the solution I want to settle on.

If it helps, I recently put a new wallpaper in my Wallpaper folder on the root of the SD Card and the phone had no problem detecting it.

Oh, it's alright. And yes, I can use it as a ringtone. I want to know why my Ringtones folder isn't being detected though when I go to set my ringtone. I didn't have this problem on 5.5

Also, I popped the SD card out and back in, no change.

I see, if I hadn't of broke my D1, I would've flashed 5.6 and I could check that out for you. I'm really not sure, sorry Hopefully, someone else may be able to shed some light on this issue.
