Swap helps keep more ram memory free but it also shortens the life of the sdcard (not that bad though, especially when most people get a new phone with a new sdcard every 2 years)
Best way to use swap is to make a Linux swap partition using either rom manager or a partitioning program on a computer. Partitioning the sdcard will erase all data on the sdcard though.
The easiest way is with the app swapper2 though. It creates a swap file which doesn't require erasing anything on the sdcard.

So if i use the partition feature in Rom Manager, then i will automatically have swap? Or do i partition it and then use the swapper app.

Try Moboplayer from the market, set to software decoding.

It'll set up your sdcard as 3 partitions. The first is the regular part that you store data on now, the second will be an ext3 partition for a different kind of apps to SD (use the app link2sd to use it) and a Linux swap partition
You can activate a swap partition by adding this line to any script in /etc/init.d or running it in terminal every reboot
swapon /dev/block/mmcblk0p3
Or to turn it off
swapoff /dev/block/mmcblk0p3

Okay I will try this. What would I have to do if I want my sd card back to normal and not partitioned

Just format it all over again (there is an option in clockwork recovery to do that
Just don't forget when partitioning and formatting everything gets erased on it so back up your sdcard to a computer first
