How do you shut that mtop thing off? I just ended up resetting the terminal from the menu and then killing terminal emulator with a task killer to make sure. There must be a better way. (sorry Google isn't turning anything up on it)

All you have to do to stop it is exit the terminal.

mtop is a script I wrote - it is an endless loop. Just 'reset term' from the terminal menu ends the terminal app AND mtop

My suggestion is certainly not meant as a solution.

Alternatively - run mtop in terminal when it seems to be sucking juice - it will display a list of top apps - anything power hungry will show at the top.
I know, I'm just busting your chops I'll see what mtop says and let ya know. Since flashing the MVkernel I'm about 2 and a half hours in and I'm down to 80% battery life. Not sure that's considered good battery life. Display is at 39% next is Phone Idle at 12% followed by Cell Standby at 11% and Wifi at 10%.

Not sure if this will help you but worth a shot. Do you see anything in there concerning?

Ha ha yea I figured that

OK - I see a problem in that screenshot - system_server. What else is running as far as apps? Try a hotboot (from power button menu) and try mtop again

I have a system_server as well, but it jumps from 0-2% CPU utilization over the course of 3 min.

What does it mean? I have system_server running as well. My battery life is ok. Around 40h. I'm running low800 kernel set at 125-600.

system_server in itself is not an issue - but ongoing usage like I see in that screenshot is ... it is a necessary process
