Phone keeps freezing
Hey everybody, got a problem here. My phone keeps freezing and I have to do a battery pull every time. It's starting to get irritating because it's a p.i.t.a. to put the batter cover back on my device. Seems to get harder and harder the older it is.
My settings are SS5.4, Chevy 1.2 ghz medium voltage kernel, high 1200 low 250 smartass gov., v6 supercharge balanced 3 setting, compcache enabled 26%, use JIT enabled, allow purging of assets enabled, vm heap size 48, sd read ahead 2048.
I've fixed permissions, wiped cache and dalvik cache.
I was previously running chevy's 1.0 ghz low voltage kernel but was having dialer issues, so i switched to 1.2 ghz medium voltage kernel and that seemed to cure the dialer issues but now i have this freezing problem.
Any suggestions to tweak my settings to maybe fix the freezing?

Crank down your max CPU? I really don't understand why people max out their CPU. Is it because they can? Mine is at 250-900/ondemand which is fast enough for me and do not see any stuttering or lag.

I'm running at 1.2 ghz because somebody suggested it might help with the dialer problem.
I'll stick with the medium voltage kernel but bump it down a bit and see if that helps.

Try turning running it unsupercharged and see if that helps. My phone didn't run well with the supercharger. I would get quite a few of reboots and fc with it. After disabling it, my phone is running much better.

Another thing that might help is turning compcache off. I have actuality experienced 3-5 minute lag with compcache on. My phone just doesn't like it. Swapper 2 usually does a better job for me but even then I have to disable that too sometimes.

Thanks everyone. Will try some of this and see how it goes.

What app are you using when it freezes? Is it a multi tasking operation? Mine was freezing when trying to take a pic while using a GPS tracking app. Switched to 1.0MV and that fixed that. I've found old ondemand gov to work best on my device, though, despite all the cool new governor settings:)

Yeah it was during some substantial use...usually watching youtube videos
so far i've bumped my max speed down to 1.0ghz and turned compcache off and it's been running pretty well since.
I'll give this a few days and see what happens.

That's good, hopefully it continues to run good. If phone becomes sluggish just reboot every once in awhile, that should help.

It's not a good idea to take a rooted phone to Verizon to have them work on it. When they see its rooted, it will void your warranties and any chances for you to get a replacement if you ever needed one.
