Disabling icons in notification bar

Is there anyway to disable icons showing up in the notification bar. I know we can disable system icons like time and battery, but us there a way to remove user programs.

I have CPU tuner running and I know its running and could do without the icon being there.

This can be controlled from within most apps, not necessarily all though, it depends on the app. For example, I dont use it anymore but I know that CPU tuner used to have the option to turn it off in I believe it was Settings > User Interface. In there there are like 2 options for status bar, just uncheck them and they should go away.

Thanks, not sure how I missed that. I swear I looked in those settings a bunch of times.
