Phone wont finish booting on SS5.2

I just finished upgrading my girlfriend's phone to SS5.2. Everything went fine. I got all of her apps installed from the market and set up accounts and such by hand.

Then I used TiBU to restore just the data from the apps. The backup was taken from SS4.9. The backup completes and I reboot the phone. It is just stuck on the boot animation. It is not boot looping - it is just stuck on the boot animation. I have given it pleanty of time to finish booting.

If I use adb, I can connect to the shell and even issue a reboot into recovery. Luckily, I have a backup that I took just before attempting to restore the app data.

I was really careful to only select apps and none of the system.

Any ideas what might be going on?

one of two things can be the problem

1. didnt wipe
2. the kernel is giving your phone a problem

only option
recover and make sure u click wipe data
and choose a kernel that gives your phone less problems ie: ulv > a lv

Yes, I did the wipe and I don't think it is the kernel as it has been running over a day now without a problem.

I used TiBU to restore the data on just four of the apps that really need their data and left the others alone.

It was really odd. The boot animation just kept going and going and going. Like an animated energizer bunny.

Honestly, I haven’t found a kernel more stable than Chevy’s. I am running the lv 1 Ghz kernel that comes with SS5.2.

I really don’t have a problem anymore. The phone is running great and the issue was with restoring. I am guessing now that some application didn’t like the restored data and wouldn’t finish initializing which kept the phone stuck.

But anyway, thanks for the suggestions.

Agreed. Since the phone came up fine before the TiBu restore, and comes back up fine when you weeded out some apps to restore, then it had to have been one of those apps' data. Chevy's kernels wouldn't be to blame, or it would get stuck no matter what you did with app data. Most likely just one app that starts on boot didn't like the restore. It's a pain to have to restore everything manually, but that's why I flash new ROMs on a Saturday

Just for my information, did you restore a user ID or password, or Key for full version of an app? What apps were they if you don't mind me asking? Also a fix permissions sometimes fixes restores from TB. Providing you can actually get it to finish booting.

I don't believe there were -- Pandora is probably the only one with the user id/password.

Sometimes I guess we just have to have a little mystery in our lives.
