How to UNLOCK Boot audio in Droid1

Actually - this was one change I forgot I made for 5.3! To have boot sound, place your mp3 in /system/media, like:

/system/media/bootsound.mp3

It MUST be named bootsound.mp3

Of course it works (did you have a lot of tweaking to get it working or was it just implemented as is?), although the was there first...wohoo now all i need is a good cylon boot animation, already got the sound "By your command" sooo sweet

Was having a lot of lag on 5.2 and switched to cm7 till ss5.3 was out, thinking that would work/fix the issue but didnt!! i think it might be ur oc kernals, dunno so i switched to CorCor67's kernels and phew is this **** fast

Well at first the stock one yours comes with, then i tried ur lv 1.1 kernal still some lag with returning to home... since i tried the CorCor kernals this thing is blazing fast, and i mean my D1 is faster and smoother than it ever ran...u mite wana check him out and see wut he did!!

Trying this on SS 5.4 GB and its not working. Not sure what I am doing wrong. I R/W the entire System folder. When you say EVERYTHING ELSE, I am not exactly sure what it is you are referring to in the parenthesis. I do end up R/W the root folder, and data folder. Doesn't seem to be working. I see the sdcard in the same root directory as system, sys etc, along with root and data, are those the folders you are referring to?

this worked great but the sound seems to stop when my droid does that short vibration pulse during the boot animation. anyway to avert this or stop the vibration?

I'm not 100% sure but when it vibrates its no longer running boot anim, but is loading your launcher, so id say no!! Someone more qualified might clarify though.. gl

im gonna have to look into this. i am currently running the Doctor Who boot animation with sound. they are both 18 seconds long and sync'ed. the sound stops at the vibration but the animation continues for the full 18 seconds. weird.

I've found that the sound does not cut out, however the volume is reduced. During the boot process, the audio is played at full volume. Once you feel the haptic feedback, the volume is cut to the current "Media" volume setting. Therefore, if you turn your media volume up, you can still hear the boot audio.

Unfortunately, there is not a separate volume control for boot media. I'd like to see this built into Android, such that the volume can be controlled from the Android settings. In an ideal world, it might be nice for the playback volume to be controlled in the desc.txt as well.
