For me it was stuff getting kicked out of memory... but the task killing (that KEEPS unwanted stuff out of memory) and being able to lock in 5 critical apps sounds like a winner to me.

    Yessuh!

Quick question: Going from 4.96 to this, I know a full wipe is recommended... I also know there might be issues with bkapps/rstapps... but should a Titanium Pro batch backup work? I also understand that restoring app data may not work, but I'm willing to do an "app only" backup and go from there. Should that work? I'm just not crazy about the idea of manually reinstalling everything.

    Thanks

As long as no data for either system/data apps is restored - you MIGHT be able to get away with it. But if you have any problems - first solution is a full wipe!

Almost all of your apps should be downloaded and installed automatically from Android syncing with the market. Any app you have downloaded or purchased from the market will reinstall itself. Of course, this will not reinstall the data. I use Titanium backup to backup apps that I want to keep the data for. Things like games that I don't want to lose progress on or apps with complex settings I set up. After these apps get reinstalled automatically from the market, I go into Titanium Backup and do a "restore data only" on those specific apps. Works beautifully.

Thanks... that's why I considered trying to use TB with "backup all apps only" rather than "apps plus data". And of course this would be preceded by a full wipe, install TB Pro again, and see if I could restore the apps. Regardless, I'm ready to put some time into this. Just thought that could be one shortcut that works, hopefully.

I guess I've been confused then... I keep hearing that restoring app data can't be done going from Froyo to GB?

I suppose there are SOME apps that can - however, without knowing which specific ones - it is a crapshoot

Well I've definitely got, for instance, my Angry Birds data from when I was on Froyo. I haven't run into any problems yet restoring data from any program with Titanium Backup. Same goes for things like my texts.
