For anyone that gets the blank/black screen after the bootanimation, and you know the phone is running ... try this (will attempt to fix this in next release):

I flashed back to 4.9(still no wipe), opened chevyno1 tools and turned off the EL brightness checkbox. I then flashed 4.96 again(no wipe) and it worked fine

Is there still an EL Brightness setting in 5.3? I'm trying to flash back to 4.96 but I keeps getting this black screen. Has anyone flashed back successfully? I can't find EL Brightness anywhere.

I'm having an issue with the auto-brightness setting not sticking for some reason. I turn it off in settings-display in an effort to conserve battery. However, it seems to enable itself again after the screen times out and turns off. Searched this thread and not seeing anyone else mentioning it. Any advice?

Just loaded 4.96 and phone is stuck in a boot loop. I rebooted into clockwork recov and reflashed the ROM again and still stuck in boot loop. Suggestions?

Update: Did a system restore, reflashed and phone still gets stuck. I haven't wiped data yet before the flash, so I guess that will be my next step. I'm a n00b at this, so please tell me if wiping data will wipe my backup data?? What would be causing the boot loop?
