    Question Contemplating the Commando

Hey everyone. I currently have a DroidX with an otterbox Defender case and it has held up pretty well but I want something a bit more rugged.

Would you think it a wise upgrade or a considerable downgrade to get the smaller & slower Commando. ...not that my DX is any mario andretti.

Is there any real conclusive news on if Casio is coming out with a new model Commando?

    Thanks,
    Wolvee

I currently own the Commando. Working at the Mines and being an active person it is probably the best phone I've ever owned, it takes alot of abuse I can gaurantee that... As for speed it does seem slower then my wife's Droid, plus it's phone memory is not the absolute best, but it does make up for it in ease of use and ruggedness. I haven't had much problem's with most games or apps that I have downloaded on it, sometimes a force stop occurs. I did have it rooted and it was actually faster then the modem I currently own, but after the M100 update I have not been able to get it rooted again. Give it a little time though and someone will figure it out...

I destroyed one Commando.... it got wet. And a coworker destroyed another...... bad update bricked it somehow. There are little to no accessories available for it. It's slow. And the stock charger won't keep it charged unless you disable the GPS, wifi & bluetooth functionality. By my own doing, I finally figured out how to get the Commando setup in my truck & on my bike..... took me like a year.

My wife has a Bionic & the camera is pathetic on that. Plus the battery life sucks.

If I were looking at phones today, I'd consider the new Razr. Supposedly it's water resistant, and has the same thick glass. Might be descent if anyone makes a good tough case for it.

Great thanks. My wife has the Razzr and likes it. I guess I'll just pair it up with another otterbox defender and carry around the massive thing, lol. Thanks for the heads up.

Used Incredible's are $75. At that rate who needs a rugged phone. Lol.

So the Razr is smaller than the Commando? They appear to be super thin in the ads. Which makes me wonder if they would fit in an Otterbox without something to fill the rest of the void.

At $75/incident, I'd be buying 3 or 4 phones a year. Sounds a bit excessive to me.
