Annoying Voice Notifications of Data connection loss, etc...how to turn off?

Ok, I'm new to the Commando - mine is a C771, running Droid version 2.3.3. The only add-on app I have installed is Juice Defender Plus - which I still haven't figured out completely.

Anyway, I keep getting these random voice notifications that "Data connection lost", "Navigation Lost", etc. There's another one I can't remember at the moment.

My question is this: How do I shut her up? It happens in the middle of phone calls even, and she talks right over the conversation. It's ridiculous, and I can't stand it.

Anyone know how to fix this?

From the home screen/menu/settings/sound and scroll down and disable the notifications that you don't want.

I had looked at that, but as far as I can tell, there are no Sound Settings for these voice notices. There's a Notification Ringtone in that drawer, but nothing anywhere that I can find about shutting off the Voice Notices I referenced above.

Am I just not seeing it?

I'm on 2.3.4 and when I scroll down from Notification Ringtone I have SC Card Notifications, Network Lost Tone, Roaming Tone, etc. But looking at a Commando User Manual it seems you do not have those menu settings. I'll keep digging. SURELY there's a way to shut her up....but then, one never knows. Thanks for the link to the manual. I guess my next step is to find out if I can get a hold of 2.3.4

I discovered the issue, with the help of a very nice Verizon techie Lady....here ya go:

If you downloaded Google Maps, along with it came Latitude and Navigation - all 3 seperate icons/apps that are married, as it were. The Annoying Announcement Lady lives in the basement of the Latitude App (which we can all now lovingly refer to as "The Stalker App"). To shut her up, there is no Notifications setting to close the door and lock her away. You have to sign out of Latitude, and voila - no more announcements.

You can still use Google Maps, etc., but Google won't know where you are anymore (nor will anyone you've set up to "see" you)...

I think what you are experiencing is that your Voice Readouts were activated by accident.

Here is how to fix it

Settings>Accessibility>Voice Readout (uncheck it)

The voice you have been hearing is now out of your "head"
