Battery Not Charging

I'm trying to charge the battery using the USB cable. USB is active and its set to charge only but the battery status continues to show "not charging".

It's plugged into a charging port on a powered usb hub. I have tried all the other USB ports on the PC, too. Same result. No problem charging when I'm at home using the AC plug.

What am I missing?

Don't think you're missing anything. Mine works the same way. Sometimes I can get lucky and it'll charge if I put the USB mode to mass storage. Otherwise, the charge only mode will just continue to cycle and never charge. Don't know if it's the phone or if even a powered USB port doesn't have enough power to let the phone think it should charge.

I think this phone is picky about it's USB ports. Mine is charging fine on mine.

I've had the same problem. It will charge in Mass Storage mode but not Charge Only. Seems like a bad design. I also bought a 1 amp car usb adapter and it won't charge off that either... this really needs to be fixed.
They better release a patch to fix all the issues...

Mine wouldn't charge on my car USB charger. Turns out it was a low power version (500mah). I bought a 2100 mah charger and now it charges fine (and fast).

Your adapter needs to be high power to get this phone to charge. The android tablets and ipads do the same thing, so if it is labeled to charge an ipad, it will charge the commando.

I had a similar issue I was able to locate drivers for it and installed them and that corrected everything

I found yesterday that if you shut the phone down it will charge on the usb cord plugged into the wall charger. It didn't work to charge on the computer because it kept trying to turn itself on. I will try downloading the drivers as well.

I had forgotten about this post so I tried again to charge the commando using just the USB cable attached to my laptop. Now it works and is charging just fine. My guess is this is due to the Gingerbread update from earlier this week. That's a plus, at least.
Now if only I can root it again. So far, no luck.
