That's what I did. Seems to be working ok for me. I'm using a Slayher kernel, if that makes any difference to you.

I appended it to the 01 file.

AWESOME! So far have been running it for about 4 hours on Slayher's 900 Mhz 1.6 kernel and all is well. I have noticed much increased performance after heavy use where the phone would usually bog down a bit. Screen redraws have ceased as well. During normal/light use it is just as snappy. So far so good! WOOT!

EDIT: After letting it run a while and running compcache stats it shows an effective compression ratio of about 2.3 : 1. I was wondering what others that are running it are seeing.

It's OK for your Droid to be different. Just be supportive and reassuring and it will do just fine. It's when you or other people point at it or mock it for being different is when its' feelings get hurt. Just show it unconditional love regardless of its' differences and it will in turn reciprocate that love and loyalty.

Question. If I add that to the 01cpu file do I have to put SU on the first line I add ? And do I just add it to the bottom and use cd /system/bin (next line) compcahe start ??? Thanks

Never mind. Got it. Checked it in terminal with compcache stats and seems to be working.

For those running Compcache on BB V0.5 or for that matter in general if you could document your experiences over the course of the next few days / week it would be appreciated. Hopefully Pete can gain some useful info and roll it into his next release with some tweaks if need be.

it has to be slayher's 1.6 kernels (the latest).

go into terminal emulator and type in the following:
    su
    compcache start

if you want to check if it worked you can type in:
    su
    compcache stats

    best,
