    bb0.4 or frg01b?

Ok.. so it's been a while since I've been on here..

My phone is still on 2.1 Firmware with BBV1.1

I'm seeing many people who favor bb0.4

I was wondering where I should go from here and how to go about it..

Can I just wipe/install or are there parts in between?

If you're itching to put something on right now, you can just follow the standard technique to get either, wiping data and cache 3x followed by loading the new ROM.

However, BB .5 will be out soon, which is what all of us are really excited about, so if it were me, I'd wait it out...it will be worth it!

I just went from BB0.4 to FRG22...wiped data & cache just to be sure...

really liking the speed and smoothness....all my apps seem to be working better than ever too...all apps auto loaded just fine...

I always do a data & cache wipe (multiple)...not sure if it's mandatory, but I like being sure I'm getting a "clean" install....

biding my time until Pete releases BB0.5!

Do I need to update to 2.2 to be able to install?

Or can I just jump from 2.1 bb1.1 to bb .4 or bb .5

I only ask this because I'm new to rooting and everything. So not everything is perfectly clear. But why do people stay on rooted 2.1 or anything when the new bb is 2.2? Is it just because people are comfortable and familiar with it and don't want to take the time switching? Or am I missing something?

You know, at the risk of sounding stupid, I can't remember - it's been since the day that the 2.2 ROMs were leaked that I did it, but I think that I simply downloaded the ROM, wiped data and cache 3x and then installed the ROM...
(sorry I can't help much more than this. I'm sure another member here will clarify)

Most people switched to 2.2 just to taste froyo. Its faster, the market remembers your apps and it supports flash and a few other goodies. I sacrificed watching news and entertainment videos by switching to 2.2 because they don't work. Others complain about Pandora sound quality. The roms we are running are good but they're not perfect. These are betas we are playing with. All the 2.1 roms are built off official releases so they are more stable. I say give 2.2 a try, if you don't like it, restore your backup.

Remember to always backup when you got everything the way you like it ;-)

Thanks for the reply! Sorry I didn't make it clear, but as soon as I rooted I installed bb0.4 and love it. I was only asking because I couldn't see a reason for someone to stay on 2.1 when this is working so great for me. But I guess those reasons do make sense.

I've noticed no difference with FRG22 vs FRG01B, except for the horrible credential problems with the email app in 22. I rolled back.
