It's probably another app, like Locale or another which when it polls for location resets the wifi. Disable that app whenever you tether. It's not related to heat. When I use pre8 I've gotten over 65 CPU and 60 battery and the connection stays up. When the 3G is getting turned on, bet your life it's a background app doing it, and thus hosing the connection for WiFi tether.

Well, according to Advanced App Killer, the apps i have running are:

    yelp
    pandora
    market
    voice dialer
    superuser permissions
    amazon mp3
    news and weather
    twitdroid.

Do any of these create the same "glitch" that locale/shopsavy do?

    thx.

The best way to find out is to try to disable ones and see how it goes. The only one I think *might* be a candidate is Yelp, if it polls for where you are. It may not necessarily be a program doing it, but in my case it as and it was pretty aggravating to track down. The big clue was it always happened in less than 15 minutes no matter how much or how little I was using the tether.

Well the same thing was happening to me where i couldnt connect to ANY wifi, yeah it was saying i was connected but i had no conectivity.

the solution: (and i felt like a total jackazz) is so simple that i didnt even think of it...

go into your wifi settings and delete all save networks... rescan for networks.. find yours and long press it.. go to change password and look at security.. take it OFF of AUTO and put it either on WEP or WPA/WPA2 (TKIP) and put your password. Thats it. your wifi should say obtaining ip adress now. hope this helps

p.s this probably wont stop the rebooting because my does still from time to time.

I have a fix, but I am not sure why. I was running BB.4. I tried a few kernals and really came to like the ChevyNo1 1Ghz ULP. I tried several combination's, but I still had the Wi/Fi problem at work.

When BB.5 cam out, I loaded it up and still had Wifi trouble. Loaded up ChevyNo1 1Ghz ULP and it worked!

The strange part, Wifi Analizer still hows an intermittent signal, even though WiFi is working very well. go figure.

Somehow the combinatiohn of BB.5 and ChevyNo1 1Ghz ULP did the trick.
