Complete noob here in need of some learing help

Hello to all and i'm so happy to have joined this community. I followed this link Scottys noob friendly root guide-start to finish - Android Forums and i did steps
1)unlock with htcdev, 2)flash a recovery -1)temporary recovery:. what do i have to do next in order to flash a rom with ICS is there a guide, How do i do a nandroid back up, i am willing to learn to maybe later help others as well. I'm really like the books for dummies, and as far as this i'm a dummy, thank you in advance.

If you are wanting to root your device and you are having trouble following Scotty then you might consider looking for another guide - one that makes better sense to you. There's a ton of guides out there. By the way I never root my devices anymore. I don't see the need in doing so. Why do you want to root your device?
