It's possible the #37 designation means something, but I'll flash one of his version 0.2 kernels and find out.
The v0.1 kernel says:
"2.6.32.9_1.1GHz_LV_V0.1
root@pete #40"
The v0.2 kernel says:
"2.6.32.9-peteralfonso
root@pete #11"
So on the 2nd and 3rd generation kernels there's really no easy way to distinguish that I can tell.

GPA17 /19 seemed sluggish - tried wiping / reinstalling roms - find I can't install 1.2gHz SV 0.3 kernel in GPA17 #19 or BB 6.2.1. Run into M logo that hangs.
Original rom will install. Wiped sdcard. Same experience. Currently back on BB 6.2.1 800mHz CPU (stock).
Installed apks from astro file manager backup / install. Downloaded all of 0.3 kernels. 0.3 1.1 SV works. Temp is 138F. Wiping. reinatalling bare bones. seeing what is causing high temp and what cpu kernel can work again.
Hello, I have joined this board for this particular discussion. I have been able to root my OG droid from directions I have followed, and I have even been able to install Peters Gingerbread Rom (albeit a few troubles along the way). Now I would like to install this kernel, but I have yet to find directions for installing the various files included in the zip files. Would someone care to point me in the direction of a guide that would pertain to installing the kernels Peter has made available ? Thank You.

If you installed a .zip file from the SD card for either of those two processes, it's the same thing. Put the kernel.zip file on the root of your SD card, reboot into recovery, and install the zip file from the card. It will overwrite your current kernel.

It was that easy! Thanks for the help, the answer was right in front of me I just couldn't grasp it. I know now that I was thinking that replacing the kernel must be much more difficult and my expectations clouded my view.
Along with the factory rest, my phone is running better than ever before, even though it is only a 600MHz. I'm very happy. Thank you, thanks to the development community, and especially thank you to Peter whose hard work and brilliance really made this possible for me.
