Block OTA for BBv.5

Got my girl to take my Droid 1 (for the unlimited data NOW vs. 2gb later) and put BBv5 on because I really liked that version, only problem is the message every ten minutes telling her to upgrade.

the STOPOTA.zip file on petes site is gone; is there another file that can do this that will work to block the update. Don't really want to go to v6...

I know you can edit a file, just have no idea how to do that either, any help would be helpful.

What recovery do you have on it? I know RZR has a function to block the updates, I never needed it but it is there. Not sure about the other recoveries since its been so long since I used them on my D1.

I have Clockwork recovery.

Are you saying to change the recovery menu/system to that? Just want to make sure.

I tried a modified STOPOTA.zip but it did nothing, she's still getting the update request all time. :-/

Tried it. Didn't do anything; notification still there after re-boot

I never actually tried a stopota.zip file, I typically stuck with the newer builds so it was never an issue.

What I was referring to is if you are using RZR and are in recovery, there is a function in the extras section that says "disable ota update downloads." I have never used it but RZR is free and a great recovery. It is worth a try IMO.

I tried it...it didn't do anything seemingly. :-/
