    Can't boot to recovery - what to do?

    Time to upgrade my old (old, old) version of BB but I can't get into recovery.
    Tried booting while holding down X, tried Rom Manager "boot to recover for manual install, tried Rom Manager automatic download and install process.
    No go.
    When I finally get tired of the Verizon "system updates are available blah blah...." nagging and tell it to go ahead and install it fails (of course) and then gives me the recovery options.
    Thoughts?

    Try flashing clockwork recovery in rom manager 3x.
