    Battery life tips?

I'm currently running GPA14 with Pete's lv 1.1 kernel. My battery life doesn't seem to be anything special. Instead of just randomly trying new kernels or settings, I was wondering if there were any specific ideas I should try first.

I have it set to 1100 in setcpu. Will lowering that help, or should I try a different kernel first?

Thanks in advance for any tips!
    Kevin

Yeah, lowering it is going to help. These GPA builds are snappy at even 600 but I prefer 800. That seems to have the best performance/battery life for my phone.

Remove setcpu. Install 600mhz kernel. Go! 26 hours average battery here

    Agreed. Setcpu ftl.

I go between my Eris and my Droid. I was having trouble with battery life on this build, so I'm trying a froyo plain build with a very very low voltage kernel to see if battery life takes a jump.

Hey, thanks for the tips. One question, though: what is the reason against setcpu?

Setcpu constantly polls for various "states" so it can know what do do, wasting battery. For example, if you have a profile to downclock the cpu when the screen is off, setcpu will constantly poll the system to see if the screen is off. Let those kernels run like they're supposed to! Kinda like the same reason for not using task killers. Let Android do it's job!
