Have the newer GPA14 installed right now, but going back to BB 6.2.1 due to issues my phone is having with some of the apps. Never did that before, do I wipe first or just boot recovery and install the old backup??

yea def. wipe, as stated above.. just know if you use something like Titanium Backup to restore apps and data going from Gingerbread to Froyo will cause some apps to not function properly (ex. angry birds) .. they will require clean installs from the market
