How do I create a script to launch a custom app with search button

I would like to know how to make my search button launch a custom app. I've seen more than one customer rom that had this as an option, but I prefer BB (currently using 6.2.1). Could someone help me create a script or help me port the option from another rom?

BTW- I already have Button Remapper, but it doesn't let you choose a customer app.
