    Question for Pete

    Pete,

With all the new Android phones coming down the road, many of us are most likely trying to decide which phone would have the most developer support.

I think the concensus is that the Droid Bionic will have a locked bootloader.

What are your plans for the new batch of phones?

I ask because I really enjoy your ROMS and look forward to trying BB on the new hardware.

I am currently looking at the Thunderbird, but hear that HTC dual core phones may be coming soon.

Any feelings as to what you plan on supporting with BB?

I wouldnt mind knowing this as well... as much as my droid has been an awesome phone... its about time for an upgrade... would love to know what some of the higher end devs, like pete and liquid are thinking as far as what next... but like you... I am leaning towards the HTC Thunderbolt!

I hope he responds here. I have asked dozens of questions to Pete here and on other forums and via email....zero responses though. Liquid on the other hand has TOP NOTCH support....plus it's packed with tons of features.

Go to work, send your kids to school, follow fashion, act normal, walk on the pavement, watch t.v., save for your old age, obey the law, don't ask questions, and repeat after me.....I am free.

IMO HTC is going to pump out something like the Pyramid (going to Tmobile) for Verizon around the same time. It's dual core processor clocked 1.2ghz, amazing lol.

Is HTC at MWC? If so I'm hoping they announce something.

Personally I am planning on purchasing a Motorola Xoom (wife may see this differently) and will continue to use my Droid for all phone based development (not a better device out there as the Nexus has no keyboard), the only two issues I have with my Droid is lack of ROM space and no quickboot functionality.

To me changing devices now would be like buying a new pair of shoes because my current shoes are dirty...I'm wearing the soles off these kicks before upgrading

Yup me too. Though the concept shots of the Galaxy S2 look pretty awesome...

[Credit: pc747] Do you hate the blockbuster, kindle, need for speed, and other preloaded apps you can not delete. Tired of having to sbf your phone just to get an update because you delete the bloatware. Well time for you to stand up and say NO!!!!

And how about a tablet Pete? I may go for the Xoom, are you going to be delving into custom Honeycomb roms?

I have been planning on writing a post about this on my site for some time. For now I will give a quick answer because I have a ton of math homework to do

My upgrade is not due for 4 more months. None of these new devices are plain vanilla Android so to be honest I do not have any interest in them.

Whatever device (on Verizon) that meets the following specs, you can guarantee I will purchase:

    1) OS Vanilla Android (2.3 or higher)
    2) 8MP Camera (or higher) with flash, and Front Camera
    3) 1GHz processor or higher
    4) Fully functional custom recovery, no locked bootloader etc
    5) I prefer slide out physical keyboard but thats just optional

As far as tablets go, it would be awesome to have but I do not see me having an extra $700 anytime soon.

And supposing there is no device that meets those requirements?

There hasn't been a vanilla phone on Verizon since the Droid.
