I'm running pete's rooted frg83d stock (there is no forum for his stock roms). Market version is 2.09 and not compatible with the new Market site (app downloads aren't pushed)

Is there any way to force an OTA market update?
Or is there any way to update to latest market that doesn't suck?

Try downloading Pete latest GPA
Index of /bb/DROID/ROM/BETA
Open The zip go to system/app/vending.apk
Remove vending. That is your market. Or I did it for you here:
https://rapidshare.com/files/459013485/Vending.apk (from GPA15 4/21/11)

Use root explorer to swap out the apk files. You need to reboot before it take affect. Done
