Edit a .apk file?

What program do you use to edit a .apk file? I would like to mess around

with this and see what I can mess up.

For the most part you can only mess with /res image files. Just change "apk" to "zip" and open the file. The classes are all converted to Dalvik executables (classes.dex) which you can disassemble with baksmali but that only gives you the Dalvik bytecode as text files, not the full java files (class files).

I use 7zip, it was free to DL and install. It allows you in to the apk files without renaming and keeps them "zipped" for pushing back to your phone.
