From what i've been told it will not update the phone, since the phone shows it already has 2.1 on it (if you look in the about phone section on the settings menu i believe it should say 2.1) so therefore you will not get an update, i believe.

all OTA are blocked with nandroid 99.2 or higher I believe. Plus UD roms blocks them

SPRecovery is what blocks the update.

Yes, even if you are running a custom rom like UD9 you will still be prompted to download the OTA from the system upate status in "about phone" in your settings. It will continue to try to download until you accept it. (if you dont' do it it will have devastating results on your battery life). Just accept it and let the download fail and you will be good to go

Yeah man, you already have 2.1, so the update will simply not even see you and move on

this is not true if you are using UD 9.8 [ese 81]. It actually displays "Your system is currently up to date,' in 'about phone...'

I did however witness this problem while running SG601 [ese 53]. In 'about phone' under 'system updates' it prompted me to download a 15MB update so I pressed the download button. When finished, it would prompte me to download the update again, and again.. etc. It would only download though if I pressed the download button. Nothing happened otherwise, and it did not attempt to install the update. This may have to do with otacerts.zip being renamed... I don't really know..

In conculsion, I recommend updating to an ese 81 rom and avoid the all the OTA hassle as well as enjoy all the other benefits..

I have UD 9.8 installed, and I just received the Update Available notification, and the 15MB file shows up in the System Update screen.
