    Wireless Tethering?

    How do we use the Wifi tethering? If Wifi is free whats the point of using tethering. I want to be able to use my Verizon network as a modem.

    If you have root access and a Rom that has wifi tethering installed you can use your phone like a hotspot. Just as if you were in a coffee shop......only difference is that its your phone that is the hotspot. It will be visable to wireless devices such as laptops, netbooks, ect.......

    Wifi tethering makes your droid a wifi hotspot, when there is no other wifi.

    I use Pre8 version...just noticed there is a new version Pre10...but 8 works just fine for me.

    Anyone else have a different tether that they prefer?

    You can secure it with a password like any other wifi modem so it is not visable but you would have to sync your laptop like you would any secure wifi connection

    Now this looks really good I just wish there was a no-root version. I cannot root due to work or I would be all over this.

    search for "pdanet" then. it's not wireless, but you can still tether that way without rooting.
