PaintShop Painting Suite (Beta testing needed)

Hey folks. I've just finished writing an app called Canvas that lets you paint in an environment similar to the brushes app for the iPhone. It works perfect on my MyTouch, but I need it tested on some newer phones before the full release.

I am also looking for artists who can create something worthy enough to be shown off in the market. I created the eye you see in the screen shots in about 30 minutes (with my minimal artistic talent).

    Features:

    Multiple Layer Support
    - There are plenty of drawing applications on the market, but none of them support multiple layers with full editing capabilities (transparencies). Images can be exported as a .psh to save the layers, or exported as .png to flatten it.

    Tool Palette
    - Most apps have a fairly slow and clunky interface for changing brush types or colors. With Canvas, it's literally a two click process, all without opening a separate screen away from the image, which makes everything much more fluid.

    Full Multitouch Support
    - If the phone supports it, Canvas uses multitouch for both zooming and panning, meaning you never have to leave the canvas to change your perspective. For those without support, there are pan and zoom tools in the palette.

    Enhanced Color Picker
    - I also wrote an advanced color picker that allows the artist to select a color based on HSV, or specify exact numbers in RGB, HSV, or Hexidecimal. Canvas also allows you to keep a palette of 10 colors that can easily be switched to to avoid the hassle of using multiple colors.

The app is free for a very short time on the market. Search "Canvas" or "com.guynoir.PaintShopPro".

    Thanks!

    Thumbs up

PaintShop worked brilliantly on my Moto Droid. Only thing I did notice that it could use would be the Eraser Width option. Other than that all of the functions work. The multiple layers option was awesome. Nicely done, Good work

    New version released!

You can download the new version from the market by searching "PaintShop" or "com.guynoir.PaintShopPro".

This release is focused completely on fixing bugs mostly on the HTC Evo, so the only new feature is a "new canvas" button in the operations menu.

There is also a "Use Smaller Canvas" setting in the preferences menu that should lower the canvas size to 320x480 if problems still persist.

    Changelog:
    - Fixed not loading layer opacity
    - Fixed a few saving issues (some still exist)
    - Fixed multitouch bug. Should work properly now.
    - Back button should now close palette
    - Messages should now be easier to read
    - Palette handle no longer triggers along the entire top
    - Should be more stable on >3.5" screens
    - Should no longer crash when drawing a line
    - App scales undo cache size down if there is not enough memory
    - Various other bugs I have forgotten

As always, if you have any comments, bugs, suggestions, or something cool you drew, shoot me an email at guynoir.android@gmail.com!

    Thanks!

New version of Canvas! This update adds a few things such as an eyedropper tool, photo importing, a checkerboard background, a brush preview, and various other small features.

You can download Canvas by searching "Canvas" or "Canvas Pro" in the market!

    Changelog:

    - This update adds a few things such as an eyedropper tool, photo importing, a checkerboard background, and a brush preview.

    New Features:
    - Exit button added in operation panel
    - Photo importing now enabled
Any bug reports would be great if something doesn't work
    - Eye Dropper tool added
Press and hold on one spot on the canvas to bring it up.
If you want to allow lifting up your finger when choosing a color, change the setting in the preferences.
    - Set Background color of the palette for those who don't like teal
    - Fast Rendering mode added (defaults to off)
Improves response times and overall speed, will cause you to run out of memory faster, meaning you will be able to use a lower number of layers or less undo states
    - Option to draw above the finger
    - Fancy rendering:
Shadow border on canvas when zoomed out added. Checkerboard pattern available for translucency indication.
    - Max Width set to 70, Max Blur set to 20
    - Brush Preview in the upper left

    Bug Fixes:
    - Fixed loading image problems
    - Better stability on the Nexus and current gen phones
    - Layers are now added to the top
    - Color picker easier to use on large screens
    - Fixed various load/save bugs
    - Various other bugs

    Notice:
Sadly enough, the free version of Canvas is now constrained to 2 layers. In order to use more than 2, you must buy the paid version (Canvas Pro). I hate to do it, but I do want some kind of return on my development time. The price as of now only $1.99 (the price of a pack of gum!), but I may raise it later if I add other features.

You can download/buy Canvas by searching "Canvas" or "Canvas Pro" in the market!

Thanks! As always, if you have any bugs, suggestions, concerns, or just want to chat, send me an email at android.guynoir@ gmail.com!
