Nevermind....

I thought I'd tried this, but when I go into the Dinc stock car ap I get a change to select which ap to use for car mode. The trick is that I can't use the CCH ap to launch....I must use the stock ap....which will bring up whatever I chose as the default car mode ap - CCH in this case . Just in case someone needs to know.

First off, I love the app. I've been using it since you first announced it here. It is also kind of funny because I work for CCH in Chicago.

Anyway, I have two requests for future development:
First, could you put in a way to backup the settings? Titanium Backup doesn't seem to save them and I hate having to redo everything when I flash a new ROM or restore.

Second, any way to move the icons around? Just my anal self wanting total control over the layout.

Finally, can you add a button that converts the LED flash on Droids to a laser that can blast slow drivers?

Ah, a true OG! Glad you're still using the app! Sadly, the percentage of active users is a small fraction of the total downloads, so I appreciate you for hanging in there while I work the kinks out.

For backing up the settings, I could probably just write them to a file on the SD card. Shouldn't be too bad.

There's currently no way to move icons around. Instead you can long-press on the icon and re-set the app, but I take it that is exactly what you want to avoid, hehe. I'm been thinking about a good way to do this... I will see what I can do.

As for the laser, well... I can't really talk about that. Confidential information. You know, James Bond kind of stuff.

* Ability to auto on/off every app/shortcut. When I car dock my DX I want it turn on Bluetooth, my music app, and my whatever else I might want. I want all that turned off when I undoc the phone.

* Ability to open a folder eg: my favorite locations.

1. This is an interesting idea. I'm not sure if I would be able to kill another app when the phone is undocked, but since the app would be started from within CCH then it might be possible. I'll have to do a little research.

2. I'll have to look into folders as well. I don't use them myself so I guess I never really thought about adding support for that, heh.

Outstanding support!

Let me expand just a bit on the folders idea.
* In one folder I have my favorite locations.
* In folder two I have about 16 business locations that I go to periodically.
* In folder three are a variety of "event" locations (in this case trail heads for about 7 different backpacking trails).

I do a lot of business by phone while driving. Simply tapping a phone folder then the contact within that folder would be a terrific upgrade. Ditto for stored locations as well.

Thank you again for this great app. It is far superior to Moto's CarDock on my DX. Well thought out and executed.

Well worth the price.

Thanks again....BTW, a great companion is Folder Organizer (superior to Better Cut and others I've tried). It makes for some serious customization such as direct dial.

Also using this for a while now, the best I've found so far in this category.

1. When I set up an app on one of the screens and then decide I want to remove that app from it, is there a way to turn it back to the stock icon w/no app associated?

2. If I remove an icon (long press - select Remove), how can I get a blank back so I have 8 again?

3. Is there a way to set up a direct-dial shortcut w/your app on the D2? There isn't a built-in direct dial shortcut option on the D2 like there was on the D1, so I'm assuming not...

For your first and second questions, there's currently no way to get back to having the stock icon. I figured it would look kind of ugly having a bunch of the stock icons on your screen, so the "remove" option removes the shortcut from the layout entirely. The stock icons are really only there as placeholders.

For your third question, I just call the normal Android shortcut menu when creating a shortcut, so it's limited to whatever your device or ROM would normally allow you to choose, at least for now.

Thanks...so there is no way to restore a screen to 8 icons if I remove one? That's the question I was trying to ask...I removed an icon from a screen and now only have 7 - how do I get it back to 8.
