v1.0.6 is now out. It includes two more homescreens (24 apps/shortcuts total!) in case 8 apps wasn't enough for you. It also supports SD card storage with Froyo... but sadly none of us Droid owners will be able to take advantage of that yet =/

I recently installed Custom Car Home on BB 1.1 and I like it far better than the stock Car Home. So much in fact, I pretty much immediately ran Pete's "rmcarhome" script in favor of Custom Car Home.

    Nice work!

Would it be at all possible to have an option to resize the icons? I love the size for pressing, but since the size is much larger than the icons are normally, it looks pretty stretched.

Otherwise, this is DEFINITELY better than the stock app. Can't wait for Home button support!

Thanks, glad you folks are liking it. Rather than resizing the icons to make them less stretched, I think I'm going to allow users to select their own images for each icon. That way, you can customize even further.

I'm typically a lurker on boards like this as I normally don't have much to contribute and my questions seem to always be answered long before I come up with them.

I love this app. It is, by far, the most valuable app I've seen. I like it as designed but am excited that you are working on the home button override(with a link for home on the app). That is the only thing I'd change as I'm a pretty simple person.
Consider this 1 million thank yous for your efforts.

It means a lot to hear you say that, so consider this 1 million thank yous in return

I'm sorry to say I'm still stuck on the home button issue, and it has been put on the back burner for now. However, I plan to have a new release out by this weekend that will allow you to choose your screen brightness when docked (auto, high, medium, low, and maybe a custom brightness). I've almost got that functionality done.

Also, if anyone out there knows someone with a Desire running Froyo, I'd be eternally grateful if he/she could run CCH and shoot me a Logcat. Apparently there's some crashing problem on the Desire and I have no way of reproducing it currently.

Custom Car Home v1.0.8 was released last night. I added settings for brightness while docked (auto, high, medium, low). The brightness stays that way until you quit the app or undock your phone, so folks without a car charger can save some juice.

Great app. When I remove the Droid from the dock (the OEM Motorola one) the brightness does not revert back to pre-dock levels and CCH retains control of the brightness. For example I set it the screen brightness to low, start up cch/insert device into dock where the brightness is set to "high", undock and the screen is still bright. When I use my screen brightness app (fastbright) it does not toggle brightness until I go into the powerstrip widget and manually cycle the brightness a few times.

Not sure if it matters but I'm rooted with Sapphire and 2.2

Hmm, removing it from the dock should toggle the brightness. Was your "undocked brightness" set to low the entire time? The way CCH works, it stores your undocked brightness when it is run, and as long as it is in memory it will retain that setting. Even if you Quit the app or hit the back button, as long as it is still in memory it will retain the original setting and restore it at the proper time.

Yes, the undocked brightness is set to 0% using FastBright. In addition I have the following issues:

    1) BT remains connected after undocking
    2) Drivesafe.ly doesn't recognize the device as being docked. I use it to read my emails out loud and have it set to come on/off when docked/undocked. I tried adding it as a icon and manually turning it on after starting up CCH. When I turn Drivesafe.ly on it exits me out of CCH.
