    Can't believe I missed this app until I saw it mentioned on another thread. Very, very nice. I almost never kill tasks but find that it's very occasionally useful to get rid of an app that seems stuck or behaving like Sarah Palin. So I usually keep one around just for those occasions.

    The real value of this app, though, is in terms of the information it provides about overall system processing and the processing of individual applications. Kudos!

    Looks to be a good app. I would love if you included a monitor widget to put on one of the home screens that way we can see what the processor is clocked at and etc right from the home screen.

    Thanks all! Working on more features with regard to task management for a future release.

    I would like to do an advanced "status" widget, but they are a bit scary to do correctly. While I've mostly been impressed with the Android APIs, believe it or not the widget API is a bit cumbersome with regard to frequently updated widgets. I've yet to find a good answer with respect to updating widgets on a per-every-few-seconds basis that is guaranteed not to eat battery (i.e., only work when display is on and widget is on-screen).

    1.0 beta 5 is now available on the market.

    This release adds a few new features
    • Much faster installer performance. Icons are now lazy-loaded, and application names are cached, such that installer does not have to pre-examine all installed packages. The performance improvement may not be quite as noticeable the first time you visit the installer after upgrading, but will be on subsequent visits.
    • Installer now has an "archive all" feature. Available from the Menu on the "Package List" screen. Run this before updating apps, if desired.
    • Network bandwidth meters now show Kbps rather than Mbps unless at least 1.0Mbps is being used.
    • Dev Info screen has been reorganized into categories. Added a bit more data as well.
    • Fix for FC when viewing details of certain apps, e.g. Locale. If you see any force-closes, please report them ASAP. An FC error is *completely unacceptable* in any scenario.

    * New help/about screens.

    It should show up with a search for "SystemPanel" or "NextApp".

    What kind of phone are you using?

    It's not copy-protected, so it shouldn't suffer from the array of bugs that prevent people from downloading copy-protected apps with certain phones.

    EDIT: Appears it was actually off the market for a few minutes...should be back now. Market may take a few minutes to show it.

    Sorry about this....should be fixed now. Market may be finicky about showing it though with cached data. Try searching now for "Task Manager", it'll be about 10 down the list.
