Wireless Chief is an application designed to control the wifi and data radios in your device, as well as many related functions like background data and autosync.
It can be used to save power or minimize data usage, and works either by reading the screen state or on a completely custom schedule.


All data and sync options require root access. There is no other may to manipulate the radios.


Features:


- Turn features on or off depending on screen state
- Disable wifi if no know network is available
- Change wifi scan intervals and scan attempts
- Schedule autosync and background data
- Force autosync on wifi only

Cool app, although juice defender does some of this already.

Well heres the thing. I wrote this app for myself first and foremost. Why? Because Juice defender is rubbish. Half the settings dont work, the other half are just stupid.

For example - did you know that a) constantly switching between 2/3/4G will actually drain your battery faster? and b) every time you switch between them you are losing you mobile network connection for up to 30 seconds?

This app always works and is aimed at saving battery the most efficient way - by manipulating the radios. All that cpu stepping gumpf is pointless and outside the purview of this sort of application. If you want to effectively control CPU stepping you should be using a specialist app like setcpu...
