    clearing voicemail notifications

Hi. My wife and I just got Droids. The HTC Eris for her and the Motorola for me. We used Google Voice for our voicemail from the start.

On each of our phones there are notifications that say that we have two unread voicemails. I think , and I could be wrong, that these are just the "Welcome to Verizon" voicemails that they automatically send you.
How can we clear these from the notifications without actually setting up Verizon voicemail?

    Thanks

Do you want to clear the notifications from the phone, or also delete the accompanying voicemails? If it's the latter, then I think you have no choice but to set up Verizon voicemail and delete. However, I see no hard in just leaving them there, especially if you plan to use GV for everything.

If you want to remove them from the notifications list on the phone, then just touch and drag the status bar down from the top of the screen and press on the individual notifications to clear them.

I just want to remove them from the notifications list. And that's the thing - I can't just click on them to clear the notification.... It just stays there....?

There is a "Clear" button in the upper right corner of the pull-down menu for notifications, that should clear everything. Did you try tapping that?

Yup, I tried that too. Still won't go away. I'm going to call Verizon today and try to have them deleted.

Well, I am out of options, then . I'm not having the same issues on mine, but then I don't do that much texting. Good luck and let us know what Verizon says.

Hello, eli. Did you ever figure this out. I have the exact problem on mine. I use gv as well, but last week when my husband lost his phone, I let him use mine (we transferred his service) when I got it back (transferred service back) I got the vm label. I think it may have been one of his vm, he doesn't use gv.

So did you or anyone figure out how to get rid of it? Thx.

If you're using stock phones, no rooted, you can't clear them without listening to them.
