    Swiftkey theming

Why have I never seen it? I'd love to have a functional keyboard that matches my theme.

Its on the market but it isn't free (now that i think about it that's probably the reason it hasn't been done) but i was wanting 1 to match the honeycomb theme for PE 5.0 (if u wanna take the time to do more than 1 an orange version would be cool too)

It's been done before. A member over on xda named bad4u6669 made a black one. I had it for a while but stopped using it because there was an update and it reverted back to white. I don't think he has themed the new one yet but you can always ask him. Just search 'swiftkey theme' at xda, it's the first thread listed.

If you wanted to theme it yourself it really would'nt require anything too complicated... just:
    1. Grab the program 7zip
    2. Copy SwiftKey from your phone onto your computer
    3. Rename the apps extension from .apk to .zip

    • EDIT: Actually; I think 7zip will let you extract the apk without renaming it to zip first; I personally use WinRar-Pro for dealing with archive file and am able to do it that way.

    4. Extract the contents of the app package with 7zip
    5. Then edit the png files to your liking using whatever image editor you prefer
    6. Then zip it back up
    7. Then change the extension back to .apk
    8. Enable installing apps from 'Unknown Sources' on your phone
    9. Copy it back onto your phone and reinstall it with your new modified package.
    10. Tada... themed SwiftKey!

The reason it hasn't been done is because its on the market as a paid app, so unfortunetly themed versions cannot be freely distributed. Maybe people should request the dev of SwiftKey to consider releasing the non-trial (paid) version of it by purchasing a SwiftKeyLicense file/app or something like that. Then people could start freely distributing themed versions of the SwiftKey trial, and then users would have the option of purchasing the full version without the modified/themed apk from over-written.

I did too about 3 months ago. GIMP and paint.net are pretty easy to learn though, just have to mess with them

I am with you on that... I may know the steps, but I certainly am not a graphic designer or have any artistic ability. However, in this case the image files are already made for you; amusing that you aren't trying to do anything really fancy, and just change the colors a little, you could probably get away with achieve your goal with minimal effort. Most graphic programs have in built 'filters' you can apply that will change the whole image file in one shot. You could do something like that, and then mess with the hue, tint... to get the look your going for. Then once you know your settings, then it will be easy to batch apply the same thing to rest of the image files.
