verizon does have a feature you can use to connect it and there is also PDAnet i believe that you can use to tether you phone to your laptop. -

PDANet supposedly (I only say that because I haven't tried it personally) works. However you run the risk of Verizon catching you and billing you for the data usage (Whether they are able to do this is a matter of much debate, but just letting you know that this potential is there so you can choose accordingly)
