How do you get information saved to gmail?

I had sync turned on my phone, but nothing saves to my gmail account. The only way I get stuff saved is to enter the info on gmail. But it doesn't work if I enter the information on my Droid. Anyone know how to solve this problem?

I have had this issue as well. I have updated an address and am pretty sure I saved it and later when I went back to use it, it was gone. I have merged contacts and worked with the contacts on google and it has synched to the phone with no problems.
